Engineering Management Certificate
Certificate Overview
Our engineering management certificate program provides training with a broad-based view of the key principles and concepts that are important for technical managers including finance and accounting, leadership and management, quality management, and project management training.
Curriculum - 12 credit hours
The engineering management certificate requires four courses selected from the five core courses in the engineering management graduate curriculum. Courses can be completed in any order but it is recommended that you start with EMEN 5010.
EMEN 5010: Introduction to Engineering Management
Training for engineers and technical professionals for management principles critical to success in building a technical management career.
EMEN 5020: Finance and Accounting for Engineering Managers
Provides training in the concepts and skills necessary to financially analyze projects and assess financial performance and status of an engineering organization.
EMEN 5030: Project Management Systems
A basic project management training course on how to manage teams, monitor and control projects, and present projects to stakeholders.

EMEN 5031: Software Project Management
This is project management training for understanding unique considerations of the software life-cycle that impacts project management.
EMEN 5040: Quality, Strategy, and Value Creation
Introduces a contemporary model for achieving business performance excellence based on Deming’s Theory of Profound Knowledge. Course topics include Strategic Planning and Policy Deployment (Hoshin Planning); Daily Management & Employee Involvement systems; and Customer Quality Assurance models.
EMEN 5050: Leadership
An in-depth investigation of the concepts, tools, and decision-making techniques used in engineering project management and measurement of quality and productivity.
