Certificate Overview

This certificate provides a cutting-edge model for Business Performance Excellence. Business Performance Excellence is a facilitating system that enables a business to successfully execute their performance improvement program efforts, such as Six Sigma, to increase profitability. In addition to cost reduction, the application of quality principles and allocated cost accounting enables identification of revenue generating “sweet spots” for profit optimization.

Curriculum – 12 credits

EMEN 5040: Quality, Strategy and Value Creation 
Introduces a contemporary model for achieving business performance excellence based on Deming’s Theory of Profound Knowledge. Course topics include Strategic Planning and Policy Deployment (Hoshin Planning); Daily Management & Employee Involvement systems; and Customer Quality Assurance models.

EMEN 5041: Advanced Topics in Value Creation 
Study of methods designed to maximize business performance. Includes interactions with the customers and suppliers, integrated manufacturing, and meeting customer requirements while focusing on maximizing profitability.

EMEN 5042: Methods for Quality Improvement
An in-depth investigation of the concepts, tools, and techniques used in quality control including statistics and probability, and management systems.

EMEN 5050: Leadership 
An in-depth investigation of the concepts, tools, and techniques used in the management and measurement of quality and productivity.
