Certificate Overview

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI).The requirements for this certification include:

  • Successful completion of the PMP exam and
  • Three years of project management experience with 4,500 hours spent leading and directing project tasks.

Upon completion of the Graduate PM certificate, students are prepared for successful completion of the PMP exam.

This Project Management Certificate is designed around the Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)® and builds a foundation for the preparation of PMP® or CAPM® certification.

The EMP Project Management academic curriculum provides an in-depth preparation for the Project Management Professional Certification offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). This solid knowledge base takes students through the key concepts for effectively managing teams and projects for technology-based companies.  The nine credit hours of graduate coursework may be applied towards a graduate degree in Engineering Management and can be completed in one calendar year.

Curriculum – 9 credits

EMEN 5030: Project Management Systems
A basic Project Management training course on how to manage a project team, monitor and control a project, and present projects to stakeholders.


EMEN 5032: Advanced Topics in Project Management
A survey of advanced topics through case studies and complex problems, culminating with a class project to bring a practical perspective to the Project Management training.


One of the following two Project Management training courses:

EMEN 5050: Leadership
An in-depth Project Management course on the concepts, tools and techniques used in the management and measurement of quality and productivity.
or
EMEN 6830: Project Management Capstone
Develop a plan moving your project company from current state to best practices. Emphasis must be on making your organization more effective and efficient.
