Statistics Requirement
(requirements updated 12/5/08 and are applicable beginning with Spring 2009 admission)
Students entering the Engineering Management Program are expected to be able to effectively and appropriately use applied statistics. A working knowledge can be demonstrated through successful completion of an applied statistics course within two years prior to admission into the Program. This includes EMEN 5005 Introduction to Applied Statistics, offered through the Program.
Prospective students that can document prior education or training in applied statistics may take an online, open-book, evaluation exam which covers the elements of applied statistics necessary for success in the degree program. The test is open-note, open-book and open-computer. You are not, however, allowed to seek help from anyone else.
- If you achieve 85% or higher on this exam, you will have demonstrated that you have the statistical knowledge to be successful in the Engineering Management Program.
- If you achieve between 60% to 84.9%, we STRONGLY recommend that you review the free Introduction to Statistics Refresher course in order to maximize your benefits of and success in the Program.
- If you achieve under 60%, you will be REQUIRED to take EMEN 5005 sometime in your first two semesters and to finish it before taking EMEN 5042 or EMEN 5900.
